MAINTAIN YOUR AIR FILTER
OCTOBER 2008 // Issue #155
Your engine's air filter—a simple housing, element, and oil package that will prevent your power-producing chunk of aluminum from converting itself into a 35,000+ RPM piece of 80-grit sandpaper. Your air filter is the last line of defense that determines what does and what does not pass through your engine. Don't let this $5 bit of foam fool you; it owns your $400 engine, but luckily you own it! Without the air filter your engine would be rendered useless in seconds. On the other end of the spectrum, assuming your air filter is always where it belongs, it is important to maintain this vital piece of protection to ensure your mill always performs at its best. Read on for the ins and outs of airflow and how you can ensure that your air intake system is at optimum performance while maintaining a safe environment for your pony-maker.
